David Carriel (photographer)

Lifelong Belleville resident, David Carriel enjoyed his career as a Journeyman machinist, but in his mid-50's, he decided to add fine art photography as a creative endeavor, in his spare time. Both his father and older brother had long been involved in shooting of high quality photos. His brother Bill, having worked in the photo industry for nearly 40 years, taught David most of the “basics” and the rest was mostly from reading and attending seminars, along with hands-on experience. He is currently active with the Gateway East Artists Guild in the Metro East area. David has developed a keen eye for unique, often dramatic compositions. He frequently uses light in an unconventional manner to steer the viewer”s attention to see a subject from an unexpected viewpoint, often in an intriguing new way. He specializes in panoramic photography. He has displayed and sold his work in several art galleries and other venues around the greater St. Louis area for over 12 years. David is currently a member of the Gateway East Artists Guild in Belleville.
